Hernia?

I am not really sure if I have a hernia or not. Above my belly button is an area that sticks out. I believe it has gotten larger in the past few weeks. I was wondering if it was a hernia? I am not sure because I always thought hernia were really really painful and this area is just tender. When I lay on my back you can feel it pulsating. It is really strange. So I was wondering if someone who has had a hernia could give me some info. Thanks so much!

It certainly could be, especially if it's getting bigger. Why not call you surgeon and have them look at it. Hernia's can cause bowel obstructions sometimes, and all aren't painful. Good luck! Melissa in Texas 315/120

It is a hernia. I went to the doctor last night. Has anyone had any luck with getting your insurance to pay for a tummy tuck because of a hernia repair? My doctor mentioned it so I was just wondering.

My doc is doing it for me. I think it's pretty much up to the dr. on whether or not they will do the tummy tuck or not. Price doesn't really go up when you are already in there repairing the hernia. The only difference my doc told me was instead of day surgery, I would be in the hosp. for about a week.

I had the same problem you're having. I thought that once I had the wls that my stomach would go down and to my surprise it didn't. I thought it was scar tissue. I just couldn't understand why was the top of my stomach sticking out more than the rest. Well, I ignored it. My wls was five years ago. I had a baby (c-section) two years ago and gain some weight back. Now, the pain in my stomach is everyday. It hurts to eat, drink, lay down, bend over. Went to my surgeon; it's a hernia, but want me to lose some weight. The pain is too much. So, I am scheduled for surgery 23rd of October. I would like to have a tummy tuck during the repair of the hernia. But, is this a wise move if I want to have another baby?
