I am 7 months post op and am having pain on my right side below my rib cage as well as nausea, swelling of the abdomen and gas. I wake up with nausea and they thought it was my gallbladder but it has checked out ok. Also, when my abdomen is distended I can feel a couple of hard lumps. Any ideas/suggestions would be great

Did they check to see if you have a hernia?

yes, the surgeon checked the abdomen and said no hernia but thanks for the suggestion.

Sounds like gall stones to me - that is exactly how I felt when I had gall stones -- good luck

Hi! I know this is a little late but it does sounds like gall bladder problems. I was having really bad pains exactly where you said and an ultrasound showed inflammation of my gallbladder and gallstones. I came out a day later and the pain is completely gone. Pain on your right side and near your belly button could also be your appendix. Which is not good at all and should be taken out asap if that is what it is. Have an abdominal ultrasound and see if they see anything. Let me know what happens! Take care. Tavia

I had severe pain in my right side below my rib cage for several months. I was told it was either gas or spasams. I would wake up in the middle of the night with such severe pain I could hardly even move to wake my husband for help. I spent many of nights in the ER and told to go home it was nothing. They did all the tests and they came back inconsulive. My white blood cells were not elavated and the ct scan showed nothing wrong. Well finally I went to my baratric doctor and demaned he do something or else I thought I would die from the pain. well They did exploratory surgery and it was my apendix and was about to rupture he said another week and I would have been it real trouble. I can't imainge if I had waited and just blow it off as nothing like the ER kept telling me . I would probably have died from septic shock and noone would have known that was wrong with me. Somtimes you just have to be really aggresive with the doctors and demand that they do something to help you. I have a new problem now I think I have another stricture. This will be the the fourth and I will need to have it dilated again. I wonder just how many times you can have this procedure proformed. I'm back to mostly drinking and eating liquids. I do drink alot of protein shakes. I often wonder if I will ever get to eat a normal meal again. I do have to take phagren every time I attempt to eat. sometimes it will work and sometimes I can barely make it to the restroom. well thats the end of my story for the night. I have had many complications and could go on for sometime. I have had 9 procedures in 1 1/2 years. I know some folks have had far worse problems then I, I do feel for them. best of luck to all. Hi Robin, I was really surprised to get your response this morning. You see, I had a CT Scan on 3/28/06 and they took out my appendix on 3/29/06. It had formed this big ball of bacteria on the end as opposed to just rupturing. Well, the side pain is gone but now I have constant "potty" issues. I am going in for a colonoscopy on Monday the 17th. I wonder if anyone else has had appendix issues as a result of this surgery??? If you would like to talk more directly my email is [email protected]
