HAS ANYONE HAD THIS PROBLEM???
I was just wondering if anyone has had problems with their bowels post op. I have awful trouble with constipation. I am on Colace 400 mg per day but that doesn't seem to help. My stools are soft but I can't push them out. I have pushed so hard in the past that now I have rectal tear. VERY PAINFUL!!! I am so tired of this that I can scream. The last few times I have had a bowel movement I have been up all night hurting from it. I either have to sit in a hot bath tub or on a heating pad to get relief. Any suggestions???
Hi, Melissa. I am only about 9 weeeks out and previous to surgery i had a bm everyday or two and I find that that is not the casenow. I think that you should work on your fluids by increasing them and if all else fails take some Milk of mag and stay home for the day and let that work you. I take it usually once a week and it helps. i do not feel so bloated and heavy. take care stacey

I had the same problem what I take now is Flax seed oil pills and a tea called Smooth Move I buy both at GNC it has really helped me I have always had this problem even before the gastric bypass and the tea tastes real good so that helps .oh I take it before I go to bed as a matter of fact I drink the tea while I am in the tub (LOL) So now I am sleeping better too
Good Luck

Do you pass gas at all?
You should have your surgeon check for a bowel obstruction which can get really bad if not treated promptly. That can happen after this surgery or any surgery for that matter. Good luck!
