Can anyone help
I had a distal bypass in 8/00 and I lost 206 lbs. a year after my surgery i was diagnosed with an incisional hernia. In 2/03 I had the hernia repaired along with an abdomnoplasty(tummy tuck). The surgery seemed to go well and I seemed to have no complications. I have been in chronic pain since the second surgery. I am currently in pain management and live on Vicadin.
The cause of the pain is from the mesh that was used to close the hernia. Mylex or Mylar is the name. I have been told by four different surgeons that the mesh needs to be removed but none of the surgeons will take my case on due to the fact the surgery is life threatening and very complicated. They say that your organs stick to this mesh and that is what makes it very difficult to remove. It was recommented that I try to find a surgeon at New York University Hospital and I am currently doing that. Has anyone out there had this problem or does anyone know of a good surgeon that takes on complicated cases in the tri state area. I live in New Jersey. Any suggestions would be truly appreciated.
