Has anyone had the Lap Nissen Fundoplication after the WLS? Need some advice on if this is a good idea for GERD and if it can be done after the WLS. Thanks, Nealy

I think you got my opinion on another board,You cannot have a fundoplication and banding or a rny, the fundus part of the fundaplication is the pouch used in the rny, is wrapped around the esophagas. and is also incompatibe for banding, You will need to convert to a ds and then have the fundlipaction. if the ds doesnt cure the gerd in and of itself. It is the prefered surgical treatment for gerd when the patient is obese. I was refered to the masters of the ds/ and fundlipacation by a rny specialist. I cannot have a rny, so Aetna is apppoving the the DS, a rare exception for them. My fundilpaction is too old to dismantle. scared, and fixed in place.

Hi. Not after (but 5yrs pre-rny). From my understanding, once you have the rny, you dont have any issues with gerd. They had to take 'down' my rny (my surgeon said it was almost down anyways) before the rny...and have not had any issues with gerd since. Good luck to you! Julie 8.18.04 -92ls...yeh!
