I really need your input/help/SLIPPAGE?
Hi Everyone,
I'm Kay and I usually post on the Lap Board. Until three weeks ago I was a classic boring lapband case. No complications is what I mean by that.
Then three weeks ago my world seems to have began falling apart.
I have an excellent surgeon who's take wonderful care of me. On May 16 I had a fill of .2 ccs bringing me to 2.2ccs in my band. That night after having soup I began having a tightening feeling in my throat and I kept taking in deep breaths and swallowing. I've never pb/puked/slimmed. I'm nine months post-op. I wait for a couple days and then called my surgeon. He saw me and took out .2ccs last week. But it didn't get better. No pain, just an uncomfortable, marble like feeling in my throat and alot of gas that seems to have a hard time coming up. I still didn't feel better so this a.m. he took out a whole 1 cc. And sent me to a hospital for a swallow.
The two doctors that did the swallow test admittedly have not done many for band patients but this is what the one doctor/radiologist told me.
I stood up on a table slowly sipping barium while they snapped photo's. They laid me down, had me turn from side to side and this went on for quite a while. They looked at the films and then did it all again. Then the doctor told me that he thinks my band is slipping because he can see my stomach moving back and forth on the band when I take deep breaths in and out.
He said if you take your forefinger and your thumb and make a circle and then insert two fingers into that circle and move the fingers back and forth in and out of the circle.....that is what my stomach is doing. He says it isn't tight around my stomach and wonders if the stitches have all come loose and it's just sliding up and down on my stomach.
I can't imagine the stitches coming out and my band just slip sliding up and down on my stomach and me not feeling great pain. Plus I can eat anything I want without problems...I get satisfaction on 1 to 1 1/2 cups just like I'm suppose to.
Does this make any sense to anyone? Please let me know what you think about this. I'm so praying that it's the two doctors that are inexperienced.....and that my band hasn't slipped.
Thank you in advance
Kay
I had something similar when I had my band removed. My band kept slipping up and down on my esphogus. Bad reflux and heartburn. Felling really sick most of the time. I had one doctor saying that it did not move and another saying that it had slipped. I had this happen early in my process. I had my band in october 2004 and removed in december 2004. I did lose 35lbs in a month and have been able to keep off 25... I hope that everything goes well with you. Have you considered the rny. I will be having it done sometime this summer...Julie H
