First, let me say that I do not know if this is related to WLS or not. I am trying to find out if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks! I am almost 7 months post-op lap RNY.I have lost 90 pounds and I am only 20 pounds from my goal weight of 145. Around 3 weeks ago I began having severe joint pain in my feet, ankles, knees, and wrists. I immediately went to the doctor and had full blood work done. Everything came back normal: including vitamin levels, Rheumatoid factor, Sed rate, ANA, uric acid, ect. I continue to suffer with this extreme joint pain, stiffness, and mild swelling. I am having to take Celebrex and Darvacet to function with permission from my surgeon but, obviously I am at high risk for an ulcer. In addition 1 week ago I blacked out and my PCP suspects a seizure. I therefore had a brain MRI, echocardiogram, carotid doppler, and Lyme disease test. I have not recieved these results back yet. I am desperate for answers!!! I feel like a 90 year old instead of 36. I'm thrilled with my weightloss but, feel worse than I ever have. Has anyone else ever experienced this??? Thanks for any input. Hi Dru, I am still pre-op, my surgery is two weeks from today (6-20), but I have read many times about people who are at around the same point you are and have this problem. The thinking is that it is your body adjusting to the weight loss. Your joints have been carrying this extra weight so long that there is an adjustment period in which moderate to severe pain can result. This is something, like most things, that time will heal. I suggest going for a few visits to a Chiropractor for adjustments, it might speed the process along. Just be sure to get a good one that won't try to suck you in to going two times a week for the rest of your life, a lot will try to do this. Hope I was some help. Neil

Thank you Neil for your response. I have gone to the chiropractor, and it did relieve my back pain. I really hope this will pass son because I am miserable and unable to even work or function. Best of luck to you on your WLS journey. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Thanks again for your input. Dru

JUST A THOUGHT BUT CHECK THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE MEDICATION YOU ARE TAKING. I WAS TAKING A MEDICATION FOR A UTI AND STARTED TO FEEL LIKE SOMEONE HIT ME WITH A MACK TRUCK! I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WAS UNTIL AFTER I FINISHED TAKING THE MEDICATION AND STARTED TO FEEL BETTER. I WENT ONLINE AND CHECKED THE SIDE EFFECTS AND FOUND OUT ONE OF THEM WAS JOINT PAIN. I HOPE THIS HELPS! ~SUSANNE~

I am still pre-op but have suffered from joint pain off & on since my late 20's. My PCP, years back, recommended glucosamine. I haven't got a clue if this is allowed in the pouch, but if it is, I'd give it a try. It is like any other vitamin/nutrient; it will take some time to get it into your system but it really worked for me. I hope you get better soon. Dj
