Blood in stool?
Is the blood bright red? If it is, it is coming from very low down in your intestines. Possibley hemorroids or polyps. Blood that has come from the stomache makes your stools black or tarry looking. This is from the action of stomache acid on the blood. You should see your primary care MD for evaluation. Blood in stools should always be checked out. (Yes, I work in Heathcare)
I wound up in ER and then admitted -- I knew something was drastically wrong. I'm a nurse, but was thinking right. Turns out there was a small ulcer in the pouch caused by the baby aspirin I had been taking. After 2 units of blood and a scope, I was released from the hospital. The stolos were tarry black and it looked like I had poured a bottle of Burgundy wine in the toilet bowl. Thanks for your help.
