Gastric Pacemaker
I am 9 months out from surgery and have been sick since 3 weeks after surgery. First they put me on something to make my stomach empty properly, but i kept getting worse. After 14 times in the hospital my surgeon finally consulted with a gastroenterologist and he said that I have gastroparesis(which my surgeon does not agree with, he thinks that I am doing somethings that I should not be doing like eating too much) and changed my meds. My surgeon says that it is in my head. The gastoenterologist and therapist say its medical. I went back to the hospital for the 15 time and was in agony. Since being discharged I am waking up sicker than ever. I am sick everyday. The gastroenetrologist says I need a gastric pacemaker immediately. Does anyone relate? Does anyone know someone who has had the gastric pacer? I am just concerned and need some help.
I am sorry you are going through this, I wish you the best! A friend of mine also had to have one of these. The cause?? Her intestines never "woke-up" after the surgery. Something to do with the Anesthesia she said. She couldn't have bowel movements on her own & this machine was suppose to "shock" her intestines into their "normal" spasms to move things along.
I hope some of this info helps you. Get more opinions if you are NOT satisfied with the one's you are getting!!!!
Warmest Wishes,
Shannon
I can completely relate. I too have gastroparesis and I am on a feeding tube (half nutrition through tube). I am on many medications for nausea, chronic pain, laxatives, etc to try and make it so I can function. I was curious about the pacemaker and was surprised to see a post about it. I hope you get to feel better soon.
