Sweet Taste In Mouth
I had open gastric-bypass Nov. 14, 2004. I have noticed since having this surgery, that I have a "Sweet Taste" in my mouth. This taste happens anytime, sleeping, awake etc. I've read on different sites that this can be caused by both Diabetes & rapid weight loss, but "you" never really know what to believe on the web. Has anyone else had this annoying problem??
Thank You
Yes, this is directly due to rapid weight loss. Your body is in a state of ketosis which gives this odd sweet taste to your breath. It is to be expected while you are rapidly losing the pounds.
Some folks brush their teeth all the time, other folks chew sugar free gum, to distract them from the fruity taste and odor.
It is temporary, and will resolve as your weight loss stabilizes.
