Anemia and Hypothyroid Ruled Out.. Now What?
I am experiencing TREMENDOUS hair loss and I am at my wits end. I had been told I was severely anemic back in December but I have since got that under control and have had good blood test results for 4 months now.
I just received a call tonight from my doctor saying that my thyroid test I had taken is normal. Now, I really don't know what to do. I'm disappointed that I haven't come up with an answer.
I tried Nioxin, my hair fell out even worse. I tried zinc, it makes me deathly ill. I take Biotin which I have taken since before my surgery.
I've also gained weight recently and that is getting on my nerves too. I am going to be fat and bald which is WAY worse than just being fat like before.
If anyone could offer some advice or just let me know I am not alone, I would appreciate it greatly. This is the first time in 4 years (my anniversary is Monday, 5/9) that I have felt so much regret in having it done.
Hi Kathy,
So sorry to hear you are having problems with hair loss. I went through the same thing after surgery and then again have had hair loss a few other times in my adult life. I was told hair grows in cycles and it takes at least 3-4 months to see a change after you bring your lab values up. Hopefully your nutritional supplements, and high protein diet will pay off eventually. Best to you. Ramona.
PS I'm 2 years out and have had some struggles with anemia, low serum B levels, and hypothyroid. I agree it's tough sometimes to deal with the complications and after effects of RNY. Take care.
