Stomach pain
I had surgery Wed. and it is now Sunday so I guess I am 4 or 5 days post-op, not sure how they count it. Anyways here is the problem: I have a LOT of gas bubbles in my stomach, only a few here in there will work there way out, and also VERY bloated, poochy tummy. I look 6 month pregnant and didn't before my lapricscopic surgery. Can anyone tell me if this is normal for just a few days post-op? I walk 2 or 3 times a day for 5-10 minutes, and and that helps a little, but then when I lay down at night the noisey rummbles begins. I seem to worry alot too.

Tami,
I am 3 weeks post-op and the swelling is just now going away. I too had lap so you can expect swelling and bloating for a little longer. That is ok your body is slowly finding its way back to normal. You have really gone through the worst of it. Everyday you should notice a big improvement in your tummy. I am 3 weeks and I feel so close to normal. I went back to work ( part time) a week and a half later. You also were given a lot of fluids in your IV that is also why you are unusually swollen. Your gas bubbles will come and go. In a short while they will disappear. Relax you should start feeling like your old self again real soon a little lighter too.
Ask your MD first,
but I have found that a heating bad can really help with that bloated feeling.
I also remember that pregant looking stage just after surgry. Lap band only means smaller incisions .... not a smaller surgery. It is still MAJOR Abdominal surgry.
Chin up. the most importnat thing is to follow your MD's instructions for you.
OK guys,
I'll try to make you laugh-therby moving those pesky little gas bubbles along.
I am an RN (21) years. About 2 weeks after surgery I went to the little clinic in our little town at 9 PM. They took a KUB series which is just xrays of that area.....turned out to be GAS.
DUH
The doc, one with whome I worked, actually laughed at me. OH BOY I thought I would never live this down. But there is treatment available to one and all, it is cheap and over the counter.
SIMETHICONE- get the generic It really really helps. Especially if you did have a lap- because they blow you up like a balloon in laprascopic surgery
SO CALL YOUR DOCS OFFICE TO MAKE SURE IT'S OK AND IF IT IS TRY IT... you'll like it
