Weight Loss

I had gastric bypass surgery 8 weeks ago. During my first month I lost 40 lbs. During the second month I've only lost 4 lbs. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm not over-eating, and I'm exercising a couple hours a day. I asked the nurse about it and she said perhaps my body has gone into a starvation mode since I'm expending more energy than I'm taking in. It seems, however, that my body has got to let go of the weight. I'm losing inches, but not pounds. I'm feeling like such a failure! Does anyone have any suggestions?

Take it from me you are doing fine. I've only lost 40 lbs. total and I am over 4 mths. post op. You have a larger loss the first month and a lot of people report the 2nd or 3rd month is much less and that is normal. Your body is trying to catch up with all the new things going on plus if you are losing inches it will show up on the scale eventually. It sounds like everything is going fine. Don't feel like a failure - you are not! Debbie

Debbie, Thank you for taking the time to respond to my message. I appreciate your advice. I'm trying today to not get so discouraged with the slow weight loss. I just expected so much more. Again, thank you! Good luck to you with your goals. I hope all goes well. Gracie Peters

Hi Gracie, you are doing fine. I am 2 months post op and I am down 40 pounds. The first month you do lose more because of all the fluids that you get while in the hospital. Don't worry and keep up the good work. Christie
