I find it hard to believe that I am the only post-op Laproscopic Gastric-bypass patient that has this problem. My bypass was done on 11/08/2004. After approximately 1 1/2 months post-op I began having constant nausea which would get worse if I ate or drank anything (even water). I have had numerous tests run that have shown nothing. They've removed my gallbladder, they've done an Endoscopy which showed a small ulcer but still have no cause for my problems. I have since developed gout and have been hospitalized for dehydration and malnutrition. My surgeon just keeps changing nausea medications and is not looking at the cause. Please, please, please, if their's anyone out there who has had similar problems let me know what they've done to help you. I'm getting desperate and have considered reversal of the by-pass.

Thanks for your reply, please let me know what they have found out. I just had another cat scan when I was admitted to the hospital last week and it still showed nothing. I'm truely at a loss and I don't think my surgeon has a clue. He's very new at this, as a matter of fact I was the 7th patient he had done.

I know it's not the answer you want but one of my nurses had the same problem. She just couldn't keep anything down. After loosing 70 lbs she had her RNY reversed. Hope they can find an answer for you.

I have been having the same problem for about 1 1/2 months now. My surgery was 2/1/05 and I have already lost almost 70 lbs. I have been hospitalized three times for dehydration and have had my esophagus opened four times. I still have the nausea ALL THE TIME! Even the nausea medicine makes me sick! No real answers here either. I am thinking of having the surgery reversed. This is not living. Hope your outcome is a happy one-- good luck-- God Bless! Angel J.

I had the same problem after my surgery in Sept. 2003. After 6 weeks of not keeping anything down my doc took a stool sample and found I had C-Diff, a kind of intestinal bug when your flora is out of wack in your intestinal track. This mostly affects those who have had abdominal surgeries or have been on antibiotics for a while. Get the test soon. I thought I would die, and felt like I'd rather than be so sick all the time. They tried giving me oral antibiotics which was a joke since I couldn't even keep water down. Finally I was hospitalized for about three days on IV antibiotics and felt like a new person in a couple of weeks. Good luck!

I am 5 weeks post op, and I am having the exact same problem. I have been in the hospital and they can't seen to find anything wrong. I truly hope they figure out what is wrong with me so I can begin to feel normal again.....Email me and keep me posted I will do the same

I was finally transferred to another doctor who told me I had bile backing up into my pouch which was why I could not eat or drink. I had to have a revision surgery because the "reux limb" (the connection between my pouch and intestine) was only 50 cm and it was suppose to be 100cm. There was also a blockage at the base of my pouch. This doctor told me there was no way they could find the problem with an endoscopy or ct scan. However, after he completed an endoscopy he told me I needed the surgery. The day after surgery I was eating and drinking and NO nausea. It's been two weeks post-op and I feel like a new woman. You might discuss this possibility with your doctor.
