I am one month post op lap gastric bypass and was in the ER last weekend and then spent 3 days in the hospital this past weekend due to extreme pain in the lower left part of my stomach. At first they thought I had a stricture, but after, 2 CT's, one with contrast and one without, and Xray to check for free air in case of a leak, they can't find anything. It feels like something is ripping apart when I move in certain ways and then I will have these "attacks when it just doubles me over in stabbing pain. I go back to my surgeon tomorrow and now they are thinking that there may be a hole that my bowel is going in and out of and they just can't catch it on film. They are thinking that they will have to go back in and check things out, but I don't want to do that. I don't think it is my bowel, it feels like something is tearing open when I move. If anyone out there has had this same pain, please respond to this message or email. I need help diagnosing this!

I had similar pain but years afterward. I was treated for a hernia and had my gallbladder removed (gallstones and lots of them). I still have pain and am having an endoscopy this thursday. Have them check for gallstones and liver functions. Good luck! If they tell you something different let me know, maybe it's one in the same. Heather

I've not had your experience. But, I'd try my best to stay calm, listen to my body, and trust my surgeon. I do know what it is like to NOT want more surgery. But, it may be the best for this situation. You should not be hurting. I wish you the best. I know if you can endure this setback you will see a rainbow! Your health will improve so much with weight loss. You will improve and you will be happy! Ma in Virginia.

I didn't experience this but wanted to offer my prayers for you that you will have His Healing hand over you and that you will be painfree today. I hope that everything is good - at this day and time. Please keep me posted as to your situation I'd like to know how you are doing. God bless.

I can totally relate to that feeling. I was 8 weeks out from RNY and I was very concerned about it and called my doctor. At times i couldn't even walk, the stabbing pain was so bad. My doctor had asked me what I did in the past couple of days, if I had been moving furniture or picking up something heavy. I had a garage sale a few days before and remembered i had moved some boxes around. He said that I needed to be careful and allow enough time to heal. I had pulled the muscle and it took two weeks to heal. It did go away, hang in there. Hope this helps, and i hope it is just something minor like my problem I had. Take Care. D
