Dear Ian and family, I'm just amazed. I come from a history of the doctors telling me "its in my head" until the problem is impossible to miss!! I would say, somehow she needs to get at least a second opinion, as far away from those docs and that hospital as possible to try and get a objective opinion. I don't know what else to say. I will keep praying you get to the bottom of the problem. Nut

I understand hoe your wife feels. I am seven months post op and still have extreme nausea all the time after I eat and my physician has no idea what to do so he gave my case over to his partner in the clinic hang in there it will get better maybe try to contact another physician in the area or in the practice for a second opionion.

Hi Ian, Reading your e-mail really made me feel for you. I had surgery back in April and starting about a month later...have had many complications. My main complaint has been that I am nauseaous all of the time. I have had 4 endoscopies to help with strictures and I have had 2 more surgeries since my original bypass. My husband has been there for me the whole time but I know that he has felt very frustrated too. I am still having complications and am actually scheduled for my fifth endoscopy tomorrow. The doctor seems to think I've got an ulcer now. My advice for you and your wife is to seek a second opinion. My surgeon has been confused by my problems...but he has never told me he thinks it is in my head. I don't believe that for a second. It just sounds like a doctor who has run out of ideas and is trying to blame the patient. That is just wrong!! My surgeon basically told me that there are people who's body just rejects this surgery and that it might not get better. For those people they can do a reversal. That might be something to think about doing. If you have any questions...or just want a sympathetic ear...please feel free to write. Hang in there and I hope your wife gets to feeling better soon. Hi Ian, First let me say how sorry I am that, you-all are going through this mess... I also had dry heaves for almost a year. I wentey to the hospital many times. Th did much larger diliations 8mm is the min. my Dr would do, and it did help. I had 6 dilations total, my last size was 12mm. After 12 months they took out my glablatter, boy did that help! I had lots of potasium in the hospial and lots of anti-nausea meds, they may have helped, but I still got sick, it was awful. I can tell you I am 20 months out now (at goal), and dont get sick anymore. Best of luck, I will pray for you and your family...

Hi, First I have to say is, Boy you are brave going to Mexico for surgery! Glad to hear you're doing better. But to be honest, I 'm having problems and had state of the art surgery right here in the USA! I had lap. RNY 12-7-04. I had my gall bladder out one week after surgery, had an EGD a week after that and they found ulcers (No stricture) and have been recently hospitalized for nausea and dehydration. My Potassium is also low. I noticed you are 20 months out and don't get sick anymore. When did you stop getting sick? What did you do? I'm a single mom and need to work full time and am scared. I feel so sick all the time I can hardly stand it. I was thinking of getting a reversal procedure, but that sounds kind of scarey, too though. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel? Thanks for your reply. Genny

Genny, I am not sure who your post was directed at, but I wanted to let you know that for the few month + after surgery I was absolutely miserable and thought this surgery was the stupidest thing I had ever done. I am now just over 2 months out and I feel great (for the most part, today is a bad day), I don't even remember I had surgery until time comes to eat. It does get better. I would give yourself at least until your 2 month anniversary to consider reversal. Take Care, Dawn
