Hernia no big deal? Ya right!

Ive been told over and over again that having a hiatial hernia was no big deal. It helped get me approved for surgery that I am waiting on. The kicker- this hernia is a big deal and the surgeon is unsure if he is willing to do my gbs now. I did all my pre ops back in July and should have been giving a surgery date when I left. We decided to wait until I had an upper gi, to see how bad it really was. Well, 50% of my stomach is in my chest. He is unsure if he wants to do my rny, because I live a 6 hour drive away and because the hernia is so big. Im really at my wits end. I cannot find any info on this or ppl who are going through this. The surgeon is calling this week with an answer. I was told he was on the fence, on the no side. Please, does anyone have any info or links to help?
