umbilical hernia draining

I had my WLS on8-10-04. During the surgery they found an umbilical hernia and repaired it. It has been 3 weeks and 4 days and I am still leaking through my belly button. The smell makes me sick to my stomache (even with gauze on it, I can smell it). Has anyone else had the umbilical hernia? How long should I expect it to keep draining? Hopefully not long because my stomache is already raw from tape.

I presently have an umbilical hernia that was fixed (along with my RNY) on 7/31/06 and it opened 8/15/06 (approx.) and 10/16/06 it is still draining. I have had it re-opened twice and it still will not stop draining. My surgeon, because the "drain liquid" is slightly thicker than before wants me to have another surgery to fix this. It seems this is premature and I have heard of people going to the hospital every day for about three weeks for intraveneous antibiotics. I would like to know how yours turned out, I am very nervous about just jumping back into surgery, I am having to pack my would every day and I am not sure that shouldn't be done by a professional. thanks in advance for any help you may can provide.
