Who's had four or more surgeries?

I have had four and hopefully this will be the last. The first was the initial bypass surgery, after that was surgery to remove scar tissue from bowels, after that was to completly revise my lower bowels because scar tissue had totally worn down my bowels and the last surgery was to repair and clean out an open wound from the revision surgery. At this point if asked, I wouldn't do it over again. If I never had complications then maybe. Who knows?

Wow, I certainly have not had more than one surgery, unless you count getting my bleeding ulcer cauterized on my pouch, but that was not too invasive. I am so sorry about the problems you have had. Please take care of yourself!

I am so sorry that you have had so many problems. I have had many surgeries (4+) since my initial RNY...Nothing but complications...I would NEVER do this sugery over again. In fact, I have sent my medical records to AZ for a doctor to review them, and see if he will do a takedown of my RNY (complete reversal). Take care, and I hope you feel better soon!

I would do it all again even with all my complications and surgeries..... First I had open RNY in Oct 2002 and wound up having to spend a month in the hospital due to by body destroying its own blood as a reaction to the anesthesia and also had an open incision for a long time while it healed (I felt like a tissue box!). Than a year later in November 2003, I had an abdomnioplasty to remove all my excess skin....that lead to another surgery to revise my belly button. Than about a year later, I started getting unexplained pains in my abdomin and back with fevers. In the course of testing, they found I had multiple gallstones, so I went in for surgery again in January 2005 to have my gallbladder removed. But my pain continued, so they continued testing and have finally found that I have adhesions causing a partial small bowel blockage....so next Friday, I will once again be going under the knife! I am really tired of surgery, but after losing almost 200 pounds, I am a totally different person and I still feel it is so worth everything I have been through!
