can any one help?my name is Stella i just had my surgery ten days ago and started having an extream amount of gas and diarrhea that wont stop,no matter what i eat it comes right out.the doctor has me taking imodium and an antibotic,saying it will pass but i am scared it wont',i am not eating because i can take the dirrhea any more.has any body out there had this problem and if so has it stopped ,or tell me what there doctor did i am desperate"

You should still be on liquids only, so it would be normal that whatever you put in will come out as liquid. Stopping eating is not only VERY potentially dangerous, but it will also increase your gas pains. The gas is from the extra space that is in the GI tract because food is no longer taking up the space. Trust me, it does go away. I'm 2 1/2 months out and I'm functioning 90% normally. Hang in there!

I had and still do have chronic diarrhea for the 7 months that I have had this surgery. I am also taking Immodium 2 times a day, and have been for 6 months. Some days are a little better than others, but then some days are the same. Wish I could say that it got a lot better for me...but not really. Good luck

See, I disagree. I just had the same type of thing and ended up with a major complication called gastroparesis that put me in the hospital on day 4 post op for a week with an NG tube down my nose. Although it is probably nothing to worry about, I would get it checked out. Stephie
