2 weeks post op, help please
I had RNY surgery on 1/27/04. I felt great except a little tired. I had the drainage tube removed last Wednesday. My problem is that Saturday I started feeling really tender across my stomach. Figured it was just some internal swelling from the tube being removed. Well it is now Monday and I don't feel so good and my stomache is somewhat distinded and feels hard to the touch. Is this normal or should I call the Doctor????? My husband says to call the Doctor but I will feel so silly if it is a normal thing. I don't go back to my Doctor for two more weeks. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Rhonda
You should definitely call the dr. ASAP. I had similar symptoms and it turned out I had a serious complication and I had to have a second surgery. Could VERY easily be something else, but the sooner you get it checked out the better.
Please e-mail me at [email protected] and let me know that you're okay.

Thanks to all,
I had to go have a cat scan and it showed that I had severe swelling where they connected my intestine to my pouch and around my left kidney. No leaks, thank God.. The Dr. put me on an antibiotic and more pain meds. The swelling has went down and I have started to lose weight again. When I went to the Dr. I had gained a half a pound and that really had me depressed and worried. All is well now and I have lost five pounds since Tuesday.... Thanks for all the concern and support..

Hello Rhonda,
I had my wls on Feb 26th and felt the same way at first. You will feel like that for a while but if you are concerned call your Dr. and ask. That is what he is there for. My Dr and his nurse coordinator are great and answer any questions I have and just like to hear from me. Do you go to any support meetings? That would be a great help also. Good Luck with your wls and email me any time . My e-mail is [email protected]
