Anastomosis Ulcer and Healing Naturally

I had my surgery 5 1/2 years ago. I have been unable to eat/ drink anything for almost 3 months and have lost an additional 30 lbs. They are doing an endoscopy in the morning to confirm an anastomosis ulcer. I have a close friend that is really pushing switching to an all natural diet, ignoring the diet set by my surgeon, and not to take the PPI or carafate that have been prescribed already. Has anyone had any success with this? I am really leery of ignoring the meds and diet that have been set after the surgery.
