Looking to talk to anyone who has been told they have this problem. I have cyclic rashes and fevers that cause severe joint pain and tenderness. I am 12 years post RNY to Ds revision. I am miserable and feel very alone with this. I can't find anyone else "Lucky" enough to have this problem. My Email is [email protected]. Or my facebook is Melanie Loyd Gadsden Al.

You may look into SIBO http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small_intestinal_bacterial_over growth

I had RNy and over last few years I have increasing number of health issues: skin condition, IBS-C, allergies to foods, intolerances, etc... anemia and B12 deficiencies (I need b12 shots once a week) and so on...Even vision - eyes issue...

All of that can be explained by SIBO... ..I hope I can convinced my doc to he;p with treatment .

But s far as I read- treatment alone will not fix the issue permanently - and during treatment and when I improve -  I need to follow a very strict diet to avoid recurrence.

Hey Hala, I have been having terrible epigastric pain issues that are debilitating to the point I can't speak. I see you have several issues. \how did you get diagnosed?

thanks in advance, I haven't been on in a long time:)

I had total of 3 ( beside RNY)  abdominal surgeries.  In all 3 cases ct -scans were normal, but I had hernia with twisted guts in 2 of them, the third - my intestines were flipped, creating 2 pinched areas...

In all 3 cases, my doc went with his and mine "gut" feeling based on symptoms, rather than any tests.

But..i also deal with severe IBS-C type symptoms now.  I take 2-3 capfuls of miralax every morning. But i still deal with pain, sometimes not too bad, sometimes really bad.  In last year i have been searching for answers.

I suspect SIBO ..and after a year i may actually find a doc (that takes insurance) who hopefully can diagnose that and treat it. I'll see him in first week in January.

In a meantime, last year i saw an allergist...and i was diagnosed with food allergies.

I also have food intolerances.  That - i diagnosed myself.  I went on a very strict diet for a few days. Low volume of food, mostly chicken, and some veggies...(carrots)...all mushy blended pured food...one week.  After a few days there was no gut pain.  So i ate same thing, premeasured, :not blended.  Still felt OK.

At that point i started introducing one food at a time, Every 2-3 days. Sometimes pain would come within 15-20 min, something, a few hours later, when the offending food would end up in my guts.

If i eat things with gluten - i may be in pain for 2-3 days....even if i return to bland diet. My gut hates grain. Any grains.  But it is fine with avocado...or chicken. Or some nuts, or coconut...

I also get Rx from my doc that helps with the gut pain and cramps. If it gets bad - i take 2-4...and it gets better in a matter of minuts...

Btw: my GB didn't have stones, but sludge..they removed it a few months after my RNY.

Wow i had no idea you have ahd so many problems. I guess we are not exactly poster children for RNY;) i am glad you are able to narrow many of the food tolerance problems, i beieve that I will attempt this when i start my vacation time on Sunday...I have missed so much work I am going to remain on broth until then....I use buscopan (also called hycosine) for the abdominal spasms and it helps but knocks me out.

Take Care, you have inspired me to get my head out of my butt and try some of these ideas!
