Doctor suggestions in Florida 9 years out with complications
My husband had roux-en-y surgery in 2004. His surgeon split town within a year (long story). He was doing pretty good until 2009 when he had to have some of his small bowel removed due to ischemia that was indirectly related to his gastric bypass. Ever since then he's had more and more problems with malapsorption. His primary care dr as well as a local gastroenterologist has been treating him but they are at a loss as to what to do for him anymore. He's gettting progressively weaker.
We need to find a doctor that can deal with his complicated bowel issues, but I don't know if a bariatric surgery practice or a gastroenterologist (or some other type of specialist) would be the best. Not sure if a bariatric surgeon would take him on this many years post op plus he's probably not a good candidate for reversal surgery because of his poor health.
Any suggestions for doctors in Florida? We are in central florida.
Thanks
Kathy
I have had also complications from bariatric surgery (in 2006) and surgeons in Titusville and Melbourne all referred me to Dr. Eduardo Parra-Davila and Dr. Keith Kim in Celebration, FL. Dr. Parra just recently performed my abdominal wall reconstruction and I am thrilled with the results.
