I had my RNY Reversed!!!!!
I am so thankful to have had my RNY reversed. I had my original RNY surgery on 2/28/2011 and on 8/16/2011 I had it reversed. Already I feel that I am gaining back my life. I was headed to death and only God himself could restore me and HE did just that. I had a wonderful surgeon who performed the surgery lap, which is a blessing and I have had no more nausea since the 3rd day in the Hospital. I am still recovering and healing, but I want to let people know that you know what is best for your body and only you know how you feel. There is Hope and Help out there...don't give up! If anyone would like more details, please feel free to send me a message as I am definately willing to share my story.
I had my surgery reversed in August as well. My original surgery was in 1997, and I did well for years. By the time I had the reversal on the 17th, though, I was really sick because of malnutrition. I was sad because I worry about weight gain, but I want to be alive to battle that battle! I'm still really tired, I'm sure because of my pre-op condition, but am looking forward to feeling my age again.
I would love to hear your story. I don't think there are many of us out there. Please share. I think it's important to let folks know that things do happen, and there are treatments available.

I too have had to go down the reversal, and more reversal to try and save my life...nausea/adominal pain are still a constant, but I don't think I will die of malnutrition now. I wish more people shared these experiences, not to scare anyone, but I think at support groups it is all hearts and flowers, I don't think many people talk about the issues, the serious ones...my experience at support group is that it became one rolling commercial and devotional to the surgeon and less and less about the patients. I'm sorry that you both have had these struggles, you are not alone. Feel free to read my story/blog, and my story continues. Be brave and fight for yourselves!! :)
I'm in the straight reversal category too. I give OH a lot of credit for allowing us to talk about it when a lot of wls forums would not... I however am in the rare category of needing a reversal, I was farther out, 8 1/2 years post op and I had weight regain issues... I think would've had better luck with my reversal had it been done several years ago when I showed signs I wasn't tolerating the surgery well... Anyways I hope all are doing well.. I don't know if you remember me Julie, I do think of you and hope you are doing good.. Hugs...
I had my rny takedown/reversal 3.5 years after my wls. It's been almost three years since my takedown and all I can say is trust your intuition and listen to your body. I wish I KNEW about a takedown earlier. Yes I did get much better but I would have been better in the long run had I had the takedown asap. Now I live with residual PN but other than that I am A OK.
