unable to digest fiber, so low residue diet
Im in the hospital with bowel obstruction symptoms but tests do not show an obstruction. doc says I may need to go on a permanent low reside/low fiber diet as my systems seems to be having trouble digesting fibers. Anyone else dealing iwth this? I'm still trying to figure out exactly what would be causing this, and am worried about a permanent low fiber diet increasinng risks for colon issues in the future. any help or referrals to related resources will be much appreciated!
My tests did not show an obstruction either....but the exploratory surgery showed a huge internal hernia near the "jj" in the messentary area that had been causing my unexplained bowel obstruction pain. Surgeon said these do not always show on catscans or mris.
I had my surgery on the 8th, probably saved my life.

I've been having a hard time with solid foods in general, but especially fiber. I went on the suggested diet for gastroparesis (which is low fiber/low residue) and that really helped me a lot though I still can't eat a lot of solid foods. But the pain I was having with eating is mostly gone now. And I know a lot of gastroparesis suferers have CIP which I think means your bowel acts obsctructed but isn't. It requires a special diet, basically the same as a gastroparesis diet. Here are a few helpful links I've used to get an idea of the diet:
