Hi...I just wanted to see if any one else was or has experienced these same problems.   I am about 9 mths post op.  Lost just about 100lbs.  About 2mths ago....i started on bp meds for high bp running in the 195/100 range.  But for the past 2wks I have stopped taking it.  My bp is averaging out at 90/63 p94.  I am light headed dizzy and always feel faint.  I stand up and see black and grey rectangles in front of me.  My stomach has also bloated and I suffer severse stomach cramps.  I am pretty sure my iron level is low...as I have taken to eating 3 48oz blenders of ice during the day and about 2 48 ozs at nite.

Not really sure what to do.

My BP has run about 90/50 for years. I don't feel it. BUt sounds like yours changed over night, so you'd feel THAT

If you had any WLS and were not taking a good iron and a lot of it, you most likely are iron deficient. But the pica is another indicator.

P.S.  My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

It did seems as though it had changed overnite. Not a good experience by a long shot.  I went to my regular doctor.  All he did pretty much was change my meds.   My BP has gone back to a normal range now. Never figured out what caused it to drop so quickly and drastically.  I researched online and found that Acidopholis really worked for a lot of people.  I bought some over the counter and voila!  My stomach went down and pains went away.  Now,  all I get are some random stomach pains about 2-3 times a week.

But all seems well now!
Thank you for your reply.   And so sorry it took me so long to get back signed in to answer.

Question, did YOU stop taking your bp meds or did your doc take uou off of them?? You need to talk to your doc before stopping any meds. Have him check your iron while you are at it. Bariatric advantage makes a delicious chewable easily absorbed iron you can try. Congrats on the 100lbs released!

 Hi Meggie!

I am so guilty.  I did stop taking them on my own.  I just really felt like I was tanking.  Several days....I did not think I would see to the end.  But it all seems to have worked itself out now.   My doctor placed me on a lower dosage of my meds and I was able to go online and find a self cure for the stomach pain and bloating.

Thanks on the 100 lbs...I really do feel like a different person.

Honey Never and I mean NEVER stop amed or change your dosage without talking to your Doc. This is said in my sweetest maternal caring voice. You can get in real trouble...some meds you have to wean off of and suddenly stopping can lead to very serious health problems. So glad you got things adjusted and are feeling better!! If your pain and bloating crop up again call your surgeon, that is what he is there for!

I hope you have recieved medical help by now.  P have had exact same symptoms to a tea. I am a year out of surgery.  Went to hospital a week ago Sat., could not stand the pain.  Had immediate surgery after cat scan. Had Peterson"s hernia, had intestines's and bowels rapped around and sucked up in hole from hernia.  I guess this can happen after bypass surgery.  Feeling better now, but very painful recovery process.

Hi...First, I hope you are feeling so much better now!  That sounds like a very uncomfortable procedure.  But glad you were able to get the help you needed!

Thanks for the heads up as well.  I will keep what you had to go thru and had done in the back of my mind if my problems resurface.  I am almost a year out.  So keeping my fingers crossed nothing more serious than what I experienced.

My regular doctor changed my meds dosage and seemed to help tremendously.  As for the stomach pain and bloating...I was able to research on line about Acidophilis.  I tried it and it has really worked wonders for me.  I take it daily now.  I had some stomach pains here and there, but nothing like the cramps I was experiencing.

Again....I hope you are feeling so much better.  And if it is ok...I will send a note over in about a week to see how you are.

Wow....i am totally amazed at my earlier posts on this subject.  I totally had forgotten that I had had this same problem before.

Well I am back!  I was doing absolutely fine for a while and them BAM!  Back braking, stomache tightening cramps!  And this time around I had them for 6 days straight. None stop, day and nite.  Finally, went into my pcp.  They knew I was sick just by looking at me.  But the only thing test results and cultures showed was that I was severly anemic.  So much so...that I have for the past month been taking blood iron infusions 1x week.  I am at 6grams on my blood iron.  Doc told me ....any exertion and I could have gone into cardiac arrest.  I received Nexium for the stomach cramps and sent on my way.   Problem is that I think that I should be able to eat or drink food without balling over with stomach cramps.

Glad I logged on today. I really should do this more often. I have not the BP problems but I have had the others. I had an abddominal hernia after the RnY. It took a while to get my surgeon to take me seriously about the bloating. The scale could vary as much as 10 pounds in a day. He finally went in a found the hernia like the one described by another poster.
After the DS, I have had few problems other than the continued "noxious" gas. It now comes and goes. Can't find what I do to bring it on other than eating sugar. I did have a bout with anemia; bad enough to require infusions.
Eating is a chore. Nothing ever sounds good and I don't enjoy it. Sometimes I have to really think about whether I've eaten anything nutritious that day or not. I often joke that I will die of malnutrition before any other disease. I joke but at the same time I know it is a serious concern and worry.
I started having the pain and bloating again all of a sudden. First time in a long time. It is reminiscent of the time I had the hernia. The bloating is so tight in the upper abdoment that I can thump it as you would a watermelon.
I'm off the gastroenterologist tomorrow. I will post with results for others to read.
