Numbness and loss of movement in foot
HI.
I am 10 months post op and have dropped 180lbs. About a month ago, I noticed that my feet had gone from always freezing (post op) to I couldn't bend the RT foot towards my body. It started with the big toe and then within 2 weeks time, it was the entire foot. I went to the MD and did blood tests to see if I had vit B deficiencies. The results came back normal. I have been religious about taking my daily vitamins.
Tonight the numbess spread to the ankle. I couldnt bear weight. I literally took a step and fell to the ground. I immediately came home from where I was. I can walk short distances with a signifigant limp and the foot and ankle are very weak. I emailed my MD and will definitely get in to see her first thing Monday. However, I am wondering if anyone has ever heard of something like this?
I am wondering if its nerve damage? I have no idea but I am terrified I could becoming paralyzed in my RT leg. Any words of advice, wisdom, or knowledge on this topic is much appreciated!!
Thank you for reading my post!!!

What are the actual numbers for B12, folate, B1, B6, for example?
There is such a thing as foot drop that is unrelated to WLS. My office manager left work one day with a floppy foot.
???
Turned out that sitting at a desk all day, crossing legs had pinched a nerve below the knee, which turned off her ankle/foot. It was very real and she had to do 3 months of PT!

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.
Wondering if you have had sciatic pain. I had sciatic pain for over a year and didnt get surgery. The material that had leaked on the nerves have actually damaged the nerve endings in my foot. I have lost partial feeling in one foot. Its not so bad, just weird if I get a mosquito bite in the numb area. It is crazy to have an itch, then itch and feel numbness.
I have full foot strenth though.
All the best.

HI.
thanks for the responses. After a visit to the MD and some testing, it turns out that I have peroneal palsy. Its also called drop foot. Because of the rapid weight loss, I lost muscle tissue that protects the nerves. By crossing my legs, I crushed the nerves behind my knee. Even though all my vitamin levels show very well, they attribute the problem to malnutrition. they added B6 300mgs per day and I am wearing a brace. Its 50/50 whether or not the nerves will repair themselves. I should know in a few months time. Apparrently, its not that uncommon with rapid weight loss and the neurologist knew right away the issue as he had seen it before!! Something new learned!!

Do you have copies of your labs? If not, ask for them. Many times we are told that we are normal when in fact we are too low in some areas and with foot drop and nerve damage in your feet, you really need to be vigilant about your vitamin B1 and B12 - it really isnt' related to B6. Too much B6 can become toxic and 300mg per day is a huge dose.
Try to get copies of your B1, B6 and B12 levels. B1 you want to be at the top of the range, B12 you want to be between 1200-1500 and can go up to 2000, below 500 puts you at risk for nerve damage. B6 you want to be in the middle of the range.
