Newbie Question About WLS Complications
I'm new to OH and hoping to have WLS. I've read the WLS complications and failure boards to find out the problems that may occur. For those of you how have had complications, what do you think caused your complications? Was it mistakes by the surgeon, lack of follow up support, other health conditions, the procedure in and of itself, etc? I know that complications may happen for a variety of reasons. I'm just trying to get an idea of what I could do to minimize my chance of developing complications.
If that question could be answered, you'd be a millionare...but unfortunately there isn't a REAL set-in-stone reason as to why some surgeries succeed and others fail..In the beginning of my WLS journey, I WANTED to believe that the failure of some surgeries was because of surgeon failures, or the lack of compliance by patients, but that was to make myself feel better...Eventually I had to realize that sometimes, without any reason, surgeries fail and/or complications arrise...its just the way things are...there is no fail proof surgery, surgeon, or patient...we can only choose what's best for us, prepare ourselves, and work through anything that comes our way

Complications:
hernia
GB failure
Another hernia
reactive hypoglycemia.
ulcer
That's all - and guess what - I am still a "happy" WLS person. except the last one - none of the previous could be prevented and nothing that my doc did - except the surgery itself -lol.
The ucer - probebly too much coffee, too much wine, too much - whatever... But that's the only one that I could "prevent"
