4th Yeast Infection in less than 3 months post op??????
OK, so what's up with this?! I eat Yogurt every single day without fail! I take the Diflucan to get rid of it and it comes back a few weeks later. I'm calling the WLS today, my OB has Fridays off.
Am I the only one this is happening to? Any suggestions?
Had RNY 12/28/09 and am doing well, down 69 lbs so far. Yippie! But really the Yeast thing needs to stop now, ya know?
Thanks!

I'm right there with you! I can't say that I'm getting them for no reason, mine go with me taking antibiotics, but whenever I take antibiotics since surgery I get the WORST yeast infections. I have to take prescription yeast infection meds to get rid of it & one time it took weeks to get rid of one. Not sure why we're so sensitive after surgery; I'd be very curious to know. Definitely post what you find out after talking with the weight loss clinic today!!
I had this problem many years ago whenever I went on antibiotics but I have an immune deficiency, so due to a weakened immune system the antibiotics cleared up the good bacteria and left the bad stuff. It is very common for certain antibiotics to do this though - cipro is very prone to causing yeast infections and so is tetracycline. Try taking some acidophilous from the health food store but it must be refridgerated.
Not sure what surgery you had..
If you had RNY, I can say that since we have a much smaller stomach, the good bugs just aren't there. The best thing to do is take probiotics, daily. I take the ones called 'pearl' because they are small.
I got a yeast infection, IN MY MOUTH! It was awful, I have only seen it in newborns.
So now I have had 2 doses of diflucan for 2 yeast infections, since starting the probiotics, no yeast infection.
Got to find a way to get the good bugs in to help balance everything out.
Yogurt doesn't have enough acidophilus in it.
Another idea is that everything is sugary, the protein drinks, bars. The yeast LOVES sugar, even fake sugar.
