How much blood? Running blood or dab on the paper?
Color?
Now, I suspect if it was me, fresh out of surgery, I probably would pester my surgeon's office til I saw HIMSELF or his 2nd.
Sometimes it's "nothing", sometimes it's "something", but somebody needs to really CHECK YOU OUT, not just wave a hand and tell you to go away.
I can't guess what the issue is, of course, just that rectal bleeding can be minor or life threateningly major.
You deserve to receive top notch care. You don't have to settle for being waved aside. I had to get old to get brave, but I wish someone had just TOLD me I only had to hold my ground. No need to be rude, or yell or cuss.

P.S. My year + long absence has NOTHING to do with my WLS, or my type of WLS. See my profile.

If you're having stomach pain and cramping along with this, it could be ulcerative colitis. Don't talk to your bariatric surgeon about this. Talk to your regular doctor and insist that they refer you to a specialist. There is medication a specialist can prescribe to give you some relief and to stop the bleeding and diarrhea.
It isn't likely that's it's related to your surgery so just because it happened post-op doesn't mean it's because of the surgery you had. Hope that makes sense.
It can be caused by stress though, and I'm sure since you've had the weight loss surgery, you've been plenty stressed out.
If your doctor refuses to listen to you and doesn't refer you to a specialist, file a malpractice suit.

Proud mama of Mischa and Gabriel, both born post-op.
I had my surgery 11/18. 11/19 I had vomiting of blood, very scary. I had to have two units of blood but it seemed as though the bleeding stopped. I still have those dark sort of red/maroon stool. The dr told me it could take a full week to resolve. I wondered what happened to you and if anyone else had experience.
If it's dark it could be undigested blood from the surgery that is passing in the stool or it could be leakage of bleeding from the staple site which if a small amt could be normal seepage. Blood is not digested so it is noticable in the stool. Or....if you are eating/drinking anything red it could appear to be blood especially if other tests are normal. Hope you feel better soon!
