Out of hospital after reversal
so last week saturday, i had to go to the emergency room. My doctor had to do an emergency reversal of my gastric bypass.
I had my bypass in april of this year. However, i have not been able to eat or drink anything and i was in constant pain. Everytime i went to the hospital i would be kept there and yet they would tell me nothing was wrong (why keep a person for five to eight days if nothing is wrong?).
The surgeon who did my original surgery said it was all in my head.
In june i finally found a doctor who thought something wasn't right with my pouch. since my original surgery was in april he didn't want to do anything b/c it was way too early.
I had to go out on short term disability b/c i couldn't work (lucky for me i am a for cause employee, so my job was never in danger but still).
The hospital where i had my original surgery didn't want the reversal done there b/c they were afraid that i would sue my original surgeon. This is after my new doctor told them something was really wrong with my pouch.
well, i kept trying to drink protein shakes and get as much protein in me so my new doc could operate. Originally he wanted to do a revision but after the hell of the past six months i was like "if you are going back in there just reverse it.." He coulnd't guarantee if he did the revision i wouldn't have the same problems.
So saturday i am trying to drink some protein and my stomach/pouch felt like it exploded. I went in and seriously lest than 2 hours later i was in the surgery room. I stayed in the hospital until this past Friday (10/2). I have a infection b/c the feeding tube broke but other than that everything went great.
it has only been a couple of days but my friends all say I look better. I will keep you guys informed
ETA: I didn't tell you guys if anything was actually wrong with my pouch. It turns out that it was twisted 180 degrees. When i laid down and drank something like the contrast it would go through my pouch. However, when i sat or stood and try to drink or eat i couldn't get anything down. The pouch would twist on itself.
