complications from gastric bypasss
I'm curious why you are asking? Have you had surgery, are you thinking about surgery? I think it is smart to do all the research you can before doing anything important in your life. I have known some people who have put more research into buying their next car, than in having major surgery. My husband and I researched this surgery for at least two years before we took the plunge. He is a little more than two years out and has not had any problems. I will be two years out the end of October and you can read my blog/story, and see that I have had a lot of problems, but even though I have my days, I don't regret the surgery, and we aren't even sure what is causing my issues now. I hope this helped to answer your question. Good luck on your journey
You can read my blog too. There are about 1 in every 200 people that have some kind of complications. I have had my feeding tube in for two years now and I would do it all over in a heartbeat just to have gotten the weight off. I physically feel good, just other health issues. I walk 2 miles each day.
Yeph - I have severe chronic life threatening anemia (few people know the chronic severe anemia can lead to heart attacks.). It is a result of my wls. (I had anemia before surgery and my current doctor said due to that I should have never been approved for an RNY)
And - I have ulcers forming on a regular basis at the reconnection site. Unfortunately, due to rubbing inside my stomach they tend to start bleeding. And when you have anemia, internal bleeding is really bad as you can die quickly from it.
Been in the hospital 3 times now due to internal bleeding.
Complications can occur even years after - I would NOT do it again if I had the choice.
