Unexplained Pain....what to do now?

I am 4 1/2 years post op.  I had lap RNY. 
I have had pain just below my breast bone and to the right (gallbladder removed in 07).  I have been to the ER 4 times in 6 weeks.  I have seen my surgeon who thinks it is not bypass related and refferred me to a GI doc.  I have had 3 CT scans, 2 X-Rays, an Endoscopy, and I am having a colonoscopy on Thursday.  The colonoscopy was supposed to be today but the bowel prep didn't clean me out well enough.  The pain is bad and I have had nausea.  I have very mild gastritis but the doc doesn't think it is bad enough to be causing my pain.  I have no ulcers.  I am starting to think I am crazy.  I had surgery in March to fix adhesions, a twisted bowel, and an umbillical hernia.  The docs seems to be throwing their hands up and are at a loss.  All the tests, films, scans, bloodwork, ect come back fine.  I have also had an upper GI. 
I can't live with the pain and I don't know what to do next.  My surgeon's office doesn't want me and the GI doc doesn't know what to do either.  My stomach is moving, I can feel it with my hand and it is making loud loud noises.  I am passing a lot of gas, too.

Have they done a test called MRCP to rule out bile duct stones? I wish you the best! Katrina

Not that I know of, is that an imaging test or blood test? Is it possible to have stones just in the duct? Don't they take that out when they remove the GB?  That would explain why my pain didn't go away after they took it out. 

MRCP is a type of MRI. Yes you can have sludge and stones in your bile duct after your gallbladder is removed, sometimes years later. May be worth a discussion with your doctor. Keep us posted! Katrina

I'm sorry that you are having these problems.  Check out my blog/page, I have had just about everything you can do so far (MRCP/ERCP with shincterotomy, etc...), it hasn't helped me, but reading my page may give you an idea of where to go and who to see, maybe what to ask.  I'm available to answer any questions you may have as well.  Good luck and feel better soon!! Sorry you are having prolems.  I am 4 years post op for the RNY.  I also started having pain issues in the upper abdomen that would send me to the ER.  the first time it happened I thought I was having a heart attack.  I was diagnosed with acid reflux, esophogeal spasms and numerous other things.  Like you all my test results came back normal.  I was finally sent to the University of Minnesota to have an ERCP done.  It was done laproscopically and they did a sphincterotomy on my bile duct.   I also found out that I have pancreatic divisum.  I was left with a g-tube in place for 6 weeks as a precaution (in case they needed to do another ERCP).  I had the tube removed 2 weeks ago and am finally feeling better.  Hope this helps and you are feeling better.  Sally

Hi everyone! I am having the same mysterious pain as well.  The GI doctor says there is no way to get an endoscope into the area where the sphincter of oddi is.  What doctors/hospitals have done this special pocedure?  I have done some research on my own and found a doctor in Charleston willing to see me, but I am trying to find other people experiencing the same thing I am experiencing post gastric bypass.  Any info would be greatly appeciated!
