Update on job/health
Well, I still lost my position in the ER (heart is breaking here), but overall the compromise couldn't have been better under the cir****tances. I am still employed by the hospital, they advised me to stay on short term leave for the full time, which brings me to the end of January, then I can either try and come back to the ER if there is an open position, or apply for another position in the hospital, and if I am not ready to return, they can set me up for long term disability.
I have been trying to avoid being a patient, so much is going on with school/clinical time, but it was inevitable. I ended up in the local ER/admitted for 2 days for pain/fluids/nausea control. I really didn't feel any better when I went home, I just needed to be home, more soothing environment for sure, and at least I had a couple of days with lessened pain.
I'm going to continue to take the antibiotic regimen that my surgeon/primary put me on, but according to the surgeon, if it was going to cure me, it would have worked by now, but I am going to give it until the end of the week before I waive the white flag. They are two pretty caustic antibiotics and in high doses that would wreak havoc on the most cast iron variety of GI systems, so you can imagine what it is doing to mine. I think by the end of the week I will be asking the doc to write me the "Golden Ticket" to the Mayo Clinic. I have to do something. Thanks for listening, and for all of your support!

sorry that you lost your position, but i am happy that they are working with you. have you considered doing home health care when you are feeling better, since you only have to work the days you want to work? maybe there is something you can do with your time off, a class you've always wanted to take or something. i am unemployed, but i am starting a program this week. i know that it may take a while to find a job, but i am looking at the bright side of it. i just changed my eating habits in april, and i am using this time off to lose weight, exercise, and just generally get myself together.
i hope the doctors at the mayo clinic can help you.

I went out on Short term, then went back to work then went on short term again and then went on long term. I enjoyed my job as well. I had just got my 30 year plack. Now I am actually drawing Social Security disability and Long Term. But I rather be working, I never thought I would say that after 30 years at the same job. But I do get to see my grandbabies more.

Julie,
What is going on with you?
I am very curious as I am seriously considering a reversal. I just don't know that it will help. *sigh*
I know you have been through a lot like me. Thank you for answering.
I have two sides to my brain - a right side and a left side. The trouble is sometimes there is nothing left in the right side and nothing right in the left side.
