Pain Pain Pain

I had the surgery in 2005, and after finally getting out of the hospital (necrotising tissue in the woundsite, two month hospital stay), and after not losing weight, and FINALLY, seven months later, losing it, I began experiencing extreme pain in my left side. We found that I have a cyst on my spleen, which has a "rind," and should not be a problem.

I have had
-Swallow tests (barium)
-CT scans with contrast
-MRIs

Nothing has shown anything. My gastroenterologist prescribed me a combination of Librax and omeprazole, which worked for a year, but now the problems are back. Constant pressure and pain in my bowel, particularly on the left side. Sensitivity to touch. I am regular in BM's, and eating isn't a problem, as long as I stick with non-fibrous foods, but the pain gets so intense I miss work. I have also had a 40-lb weight gain in the past year.

I am mainly here to ask if anyone has had these similar problems, and if any of you can recommend a doctor to go to in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, as the possibility of going back to my RNY surgeon is a no-go. I almost died at that hospital, I'll never go back, and that's the only place she practices (I love my surgeon, the hospital was horrid).

Thanks for any advice,
Sara

Hey Sara,
I don't know of a doctor in your area but I do understand what your going through. Pain is NOT normal. I too have had all the tests above, its kind of hit or miss and the IBS story is getting old. I am going to have exploratory surgery to get to the bottom of my pain. The people on the boards who have had complications and share their stories are so real and its a good reminder of  what can happen. My sister had RNY 5 years ago and has not had any complication/pain of any kind, the way its should be. Do you have a good PCP or GI doc? I would make an appointment and tell them you have done your research and request exploratory surgery so you know for sure what is happening to your body. There is a special person on the boards who has helped me so much, she has been through so much that anything she has to say holds more then a grain of salt to me! Make an appointment today! Its our life and we deserve and PAY for our doctors knowledge. Keep me posted as I will also on the boards, take care! Katrina
