I failed at RNY...now I am wanting a DS. Has anybody had problems with their DS?
I had a failed RNY and recently converted to the RNY with the fobi and had some small complications. But my husband just had a revision to the DS about two weeks ago and he is currently in the ICU fighting for his life. I say this not because I think the DS is a bad surgery or that the RNY fobi is better, but just to let you know that considering a revision must be a well thought out process and that there can be serious risks with either. My husband had open surgery and he got an infection (peritonitis) and over a gallon of infectious fluid was found in his stomach. He experience high fevers, blood pressure issues, kidney failure, and lowered heart rate. He actually flat lined two days ago but was revived. His surgeon said that in 2% of people although the infection can be completely removed the body still responds as if the infection is still present. My husband is a fighter and I am sure he will make it through this, but as I said before complications can happen with any WLS.
