MRSA???
YES. I tested negative for MRSA prior to my surgery (6/23/09), but contracted it somehow in the hospital and came home with it. I'm on Bactrim, which is working, but slowly. Have you had cultures taken and tested? The MRSA manifested itself on my arm and has been very painful. It's also been expensive with doctor visits, prescriptions, bandages, gauze, etc. etc. I'm really angry that (1) the nurses didn't recognize the infection at my incision on my 1 week post-op visit and (2) they didn't educate me about the risk of MRSA prior to surgery.
When the MRSA appeared on my arm, I thought it was a pimple or spider bite. This is common. Had I known it was MRSA I would have sought treatment immediately.
Frustrating!
