In California - look up either Dr. Rabkin or Dr. Keshisian - you are lucky to be near two wonderful revision docs

 Hi,
I know you are looking for a doctor in California but if you are willing to travel i found a great gastro surgeon out at the University of Pennsylvania hospital named Dr. Steven Raper. He is known as the doctor who fixes other doctors mistakes. I too had the RNY and had problems from week 3. I had so many things wrong with me from the by-pass it was unbelievable. But what they eventually found when the surgeon went in to reverse it was my stomach pouch had collapsed in on itself and I wasn't absorbing anything (vitamins, food, liquids, etc.) I wound up getting a gastrectomy because there was too much damage and I am 5 years post-op from my RNY and I'm still having problems. Good luck in finding a doctor. But I wouldn't wait too long cause the longer you wait the weaker your body will get.

I know this post is very old but I have a friend that had RNY over 8 years ago is in need of a RNY reversal and revision due to issues (not weight gain). She was given a band over bypass but that failed and she has had the band removed. What surgeon helped out the people you referred to California. We are in Califorina so this would be great information for my friend.

Did you ever get the reversal done. Do you keep any food down. I have the same problems.

People had it reversed.  not completely - but it is possible. But that usually means gaining all the weight back and then some...
To be able to do reversl - you would need to find an experianced surgeon to do that.  It is hard - but not impossible.

I too am having my procedure reversed.  I don't care if I gain every pound back.  Lost all my weight in six mos. and am bed ridden due to complications.  If you have not had it reversed by the time I have mine done, I will let you know the outcome.  I am scheduled to have the reversal Aug. 25th.

Had surgery 2/8/08.  Unfortunetly, I have had many life threatening complications.  As of 2/7/09 and after a second surgery I am finally able to keep food and liquids down.  This has been a very difficult road and only hope I have turned the corner to wellness.
