Hi, everyone. Thank you to anyone who can answer this for me. I forgot to ask the dr when I saw him this past week.

I had surgery Monday 6/1 and came home on Thursday 6/4. The following Saturday my period started and it has not stopped since. (I am not due to start for 2 weeks) Has the surgery started menopause??

Thanks,
Mary

The stress of surgery and all can definitely mess up your periods, it did mine. With me though it caused me to miss periods and I thought this was menopause. The doc told me that becuase estrogen is stored in your fat cells it will mess up your cycles when you start losing weight as it is released. I was 49 and he also told me it could throw me into menopause. Is is menopause for you? You will have to just wait and see. It did not turn out to be that for me...I am back to regular cycles after the first few months.

I don't know the answer to your quesiton but it does seem like surgery does weird things to our bodies!
I never had cramps with my periods...ever!  And then after I had surgery, I'd get the most awful cramps ever.....no I'm on the depo shot so no problem anymore...but it was weird!
