i had lap rny on 12/8 and was doing okay until a couple of days ago. I am barely able to tolerate anything except milk and tea. i am supposed to be on pureed foods. I know that if something doesn't change i am going to get dehydrated. I can just be sitting down and up comes a little something. it is never right after i drink but awhile after. any thoughts?

Can you believe I know where Yulee, FL is?

Are you taking any antacids such as prevacid?  Are you using gas-x strips to help too?  I've had this happen to me.  I don't have anything come up anymore but there are still foods I can't tolerate.

Foods also come up when you are too full.  It's a learning curve to know when it's too much.

I'm just reading the date you posted this and you are probably better by now.  You have probably figured out what's going on because here it is Feb.  Sorry, I just found this forum and started reading posts.

I do hope that this has stopped and you are taking in foods.

Best wishes,
Corina

Do you have your gall bladder??  If so, you may want to get it checked out.

I had a RNY in Sept. 08 with many complications: bowel adhesion from surgery, gall bladder failure/removal in Dec. 08, extreme nausea and through all of this NOT ABLE TO KEEP HARDLY ANYTHING DOWN.  I had great medical staff who were very supportive and understood what I was going through.  There is a lot of guilt when you're "not on the program" the way it is laid out.  The most important thing is to stay in contact with your medical staff so they know your status.  I had many trips to the ER/doctor to get nutritional IVs because they didn't want me to get "too far down."

You might want to try popsicles, small bites of banana, and soups.  Some days all I had was popsicles and still felt ill, but at least I was getting something in.  Also, be aware of the artificial sweeteners in your food; I know myself and others who after the surgery aren't able to tolerate this.

It took me 7 months to feel normal again and during the process and there were many times I regretted the surgery.  Now, I am able to eat, take my supplements, exercise.  This process takes a lot of patience and trust of the medical profession.

Good Luck!!
