lap band complications

Hello,

I have had the lap band for almost five years. Have had wonderful results. Although as of the last two weeks (since thanksgiving night) i have had uncontrollable heartburn 24/7, a tightening in my chest back through to the middle of my back, my left shoulder kills me, my left side has pain like someone is stabbing me, and i burp more in one day than i ever have in my entire life. The heartburn is so bad that i have had less than 3 hours of sleep a night since.  Its like something is on fire when i swallow anything so i have been sticking with dry toast or crackers and water, but even that hurts. I have an appointment with my doc on monday, he just so happens to be out of town right now. I talked to his nurse yesterday and she seemed very concerned. Told me to go directly to the Emergency Room if problems get any worse, i just can't imagine they could get worse.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know anything about band erosion or slippage?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well... I hope all went well with your surgeon.  I have had obstructions (to where I needed urgent unfills).  I have had stuck episodes lasting hours (yes, painful).  I have had a band slip and hiatal hernia.  Those both suck and produce horrific reflux.  Even with an empty band, I would choke on "stuff" at night... whatever was in my pouch from hours before or saliva/mucus from ingesting that at night.

Well, hope all is well and it isn't anything serious.  Check out the lap-band board if you need more help... lots of support and info over there.  I don't see much band talk on this board.

I know about band slippage and what you have described sounds like my experience.

I realize that my posting is a bit late but I hope you went to the ER room and that everything has been corrected now.

Please post so at least we know that you are okay.

Hi,
I've had the band for 6 years, and I think it sounds like something is stuck since thanksgiving that is partially blocking you entrance to your eshophogus. They may unfill your band for a couple days. Please let me know how it goes.
