Diahrrea after Corrective Surgery

On Oct 8th my husband had exploratory surgery from complications during his first surgery on Sept. 24.  They redid his gastric bypass but since then he has had problems with yellow smelly diahrrea daily (even on IVs). Especially at night in bed. He doesn't know it's happening.  We have a cleaning system down but it's still very hard to have clean our bed.

He's on liquids till the weekend.  They have him on BellaDonna for it but it doesn't help.  He's also had mobility problems since the surgery (severe adeama) and mobility is an issue.

Love to hear any similar cases & advice.

Have stool samples been sent to culture for C-Difficile?
This bacteria can be picked up in the hospital. It takes weeks to get over, but needs to be checked for with anyone with persistant diarrhea after a hospitalization as it can be dangerous. If he hasn't been checked for it, call your doc and ask about it, those of us in healthcare call it C-diff for short. Janet

Did they shorten his common channel ?   ( move the connection further down ? ) also - Is he getting a lot of  GAS ??   You might want to ask your Dr about  getting some Flagyl  for a couple weeks. he most likely will not have  C- Diff  But  the Flagyl will help ...

Its common to have the stinky  loose stools -  will last a couple weeks , also  stay away from processed carbs and try to add natural  fiber  to the eating plan - it acts like a  sponge and will  help his stools ..
