Anyone with remnant stomach issues?

Julie...good to see you posting.  I was wondering how you were doing.  Sorry to hear about the GT falling out but you will have to find out soon or later how you will do without it.  I am hoping that you are okay and don't need it put back in again.  Lord knows it will be nice to be without it since you have had it in so long.  But I can relate to the fear of worrying if you will be able to tolerate having it out.  I ended up giving up my job this week.  I am not in any shape to return to work with episodes of double you over pain 2-3 times a week; ongoing nausea, etc so I had to finally give in and make the decision.  I still have vacation time so I am not going without pay but the constant worry of "when will I be able to go back to work" is not pressing on my anymore.  I also had a very high stress job and if these GI sx are related at all to stress or aggravated by stress I wanted to eliminate that factor too.  Scary to not know what is next....if the sx continue and the docs don't have any resolution then I may need to apply for disability.  The docs have sort of given up on me since they don't know what more to offer so I just sit and wait and hope for either the sx to abate or if they continue to escalate then I will have to end up back at the ER and hope that there is something they can see that can be fixed.  VERY DIFFICULT AND FRUSTRATING but I don't know what else to do at this point.

Sorry to hear that you gave up your job.  I so get the difficult and frustrating part of all of this.

As I suspected, I have been in some pretty good stomach pain and now it has become more painful when I eat!!  I can't figure that part out at all.

I was going to call the Dr. today, but decided I would just try to wait it out until my appt. on Thursday.  DH and I are hoping that it just might be taking more time to get that remnant to behave properly.

Stress is not good for us, that is for sure.  My symptoms always increase when I have stress.

Please stay in touch.  If you want, I can PM my e-mail addy to you.

Julie

How you doing without the tube?  I hope you are tolerating it being out.  I was a little worried when I heard you had more pain and trouble eating again.  That is what is happening with me as more time passes without the tube in.  It's been 3 weeks and I seem to be having more bouts of the double you over pain and the nausea is back again intermittently.  For now I am trying to eat when I can and when the symptoms are back I just try to ride it out.  I haven't bothered the surgeon since the last time she said she did not know what else to do.  I would like to be able go back to work (in a different job) after Thanksgiving to see if I get my mind off of feeling like crap if that makes it any better but I am also scared that I will just get back to work and the symptoms will take over my life again and I won't be able to consistently work.  This is a *****!!

Hi guys I was on the site looking for answers for my sister her surgery date was 031109, mine 120108,  she has the same problem dr' hasn't said much except that it is rare happens only rarely.  On another site she found that it happens more with people that have high blood pressure and/or diabetes...she was diagnosed with both.  I was wondering how each of you were doing with this now.  You guys just all of a sudden stopped posting hopefully that means you are better.

Sorry to hear about your sister.  What are her symptoms?  And what has the surgeon said they think is wrong?  I eneded up going back to work and am doing okay.  I changed my job and it's less stressful and I am happier so I think that also makes a difference.  I still have symptoms and they come and go without any warning and not related to what I eat or don't eat.  I have just learned to live with it.  Thankfully the nausea is no longer an issue.  Just episodes of severe, double you over type of pain and it can last minutes to hours.  Also tremendous amounts of gas, bloating, belching....this is an every day occurence.  It's nice to be thin but the symptoms are difficult to manage.

Her symptoms were that she couldn't eat or drink anything more than a sip because her remnant stomach was so distended that it was pressing on the new pouch.  Once they inserted the tube which was very irritating for her as well she felt better.  She just got the tube out today and told her she should feel blessed because of your story and another, having to have it in for months. I was shocked to hear that people were having this problem quite some time after their surgery...  I thought it only happened when you had just had surgery.  I really appreciate you sharing your story and taking the time to respond to me...THANK YOU so much. I was so worried about her, and I was the one who talked her into the surgery so I felt really guilty.  I pray for the your speedy healing. Again thank you so much for your time. I'm sorry that I didn' respond earlier I didn't see the response until I went on my email...Oh one question off topic...I have been trying to upload a ticker from the ticker factory would you happen to know how to do that?

I hope her symptoms don't return.  That is how I was...so bloated and distended I couldn't stand to even look at anything without the nausea hitting me.  Sorry I don't know how to do the ticker but I am sure if you post on the main board someone there will know.  Let your sister know to keep in touch with those of us that have on going issues.  It is helpful to know we are not alone and even if there isn't a solution we can share our stories and information.

She hasn't had many residual effects since the tube has been pulled out of her stomach, with the exception that she can't eat much, her weight loss to her is slow when she compares it to mine.  I just think I lost more faster because I was heavier by 40 lbs.  She doesn't appear to have alot of pain just the limited amount of food she can eat but she is still learning her pouch...she has only had one episode of vomiting, she ate a bbq rib which she had prev but she may have taken one bite too many. She hasn't had any dbl you over pain...and I am sorry that you guys are still going through that and I pray for you.  I'm sorry that I am writing this for her she is NOT a forum participating type of person.  Which I think is a shame because she was on here reading to abstract information but not add her story and I believe it is just as important for her info to be posted on here as well to allow people who may have this now or in the future to know all possibilities for this condition...and dr's may read this as well.  I thank you so much for sharing with me and others!!!!!!!!!!!

How are you doing after the surgery, my sister had bypass on 031109, and is having the same issues.  How long after surgery did your issues start?
