Seroma? MTHFR?
I called the surgeon's office this morning because I noticed a hard, ball-like formation under my biggest incision from RNY 3 1/2 weeks ago. I had been having some pain which I thought would have passed by now, around that particular incision. I was worried that it was an oddly-placed hernia but she said that it was more than likely a "seroma". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seroma I have an appointment with the surgeon on the 10th (in a week). She said that I will probably be okay until then but she will talk it over with my surgeon and see what he says. PS- I have a blood clotting disorder- MTHFR http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTHFR . I am wondering how that will affect things. Does anyone have experience with a seroma post-surgery and/or MTHFR??

Yes, I have this right now from my Realize Band 6/11/08.. I was put on 2 weeks of antibiotics and I started leaking fluid from my incision. 2 weeks ago, I was clear and the incision cleared up on its own. Last week one day it opened and the fluid started again and now tissue is coming out. Today I was put on another 2 weeks of antibiotics and get to see the doctor on Friday. I am so frustrated at this point!!!
Hi...I know all about seroma's as I am recovering from one. I had that feeling like there was a ball under my left breast, right next to my largest incsion for a little over a week. I woke up one morning and the incsion had split open due to the growing seroma. IT SUCKS and it scared me and it hurts. My hole was 6cm deep and I had to see a wound care specialist everyday for 7 weeks. It's now only .4 cm deep, almost healed but I have done so much research and experienced this first hand. Let me know if you have any questions or if there is anything I can help you with. It sounds like yours hasnt opened yet and you don't want it to. But if it does, it's just your body getting rid of the ball of fluid which is exaclty what a seroma is. Keep in touch!
