hypoglycemia

Prior to surgery, especially before I got quite so heavy, I had occasional bouts with low blood sugar. I am now down about 100 pounds and am occasionally experiencing some mild low blood sugar symptoms.  I am concerned that I will develop some of the severe symptoms I have read about here on OH.  I will begin to pay more attention to the carbs I eat as I have always known that carbs, esp first thing in the AM and coupled with coffee was always a trigger for me.  But is there anyone out there who can tell me if I am at increased risk of developing the severe neuroglycopenia I have read about?  I can't imagine what would happen to us if I developed such a debilitating problem.  I am the main income provider and I have a handicapped child!  Will watching what I eat be enough to prevent this problem?

Will watching what I eat be enough to prevent this problem?  Maybe.  Sometimes it does.  Sometimes it doesn't.  That's where I am now.  Either I deal with never touching carbs, and having few symptoms, or risking frequent symptoms if I eat any.  Either way, it's a big game.

Boy am I glad to hear someone else experiencing this.  My surgeon, PDP and Gastroenterologist seem to know nothing of this complication w/RNY.  I have found I get light headed if I do not eat every 2-3 hours, and have come up with blood sugar tests as low as 50 moments after eating.  I would really love any information anyone can provide.  Pre-op I never had any symptoms like this, nor did I have early signs of diabetes.   Good to hear others in the same boat!  Wish I had some info to share...
