Sickness every 2 to 3 mo. after WLS 1 yr. out
Hi, I had Roux-en-y gastric bypass surgery 1 year ago and have had great results. I feel good most of the time! Once every 2 to 3 months I experience uncontrollable vomiting / dry heaves and diarrhea for about 12 hours straight. It is so bad that I have to go to the ER. I had another surgery in Dec. and my surgeon found some adhesions and removed them but 3 months later it was back and I was back in the emergency room. This last time which was a couple days ago he did an upper GI while I was having an episode and found nothing. I am looking to see if anyone else has encountered this problem and suggestions on what to do next. It seems that my surgeon is stumped. Thank you in advance.
I had similar problems. From early on, till about 7 months out, I wretched the dry heaves every day. Then for a day I'd have many bowels movements. Also, the dry heaves were after I was trying to have a bowel movement. My doc never knew what was wrong. I had an endoscopy and I was "cured." No explanation. Now, this morning, all of a sudden, I had the dry heaves again. Who knows why! I think, at least in my cae, it has to do with vagal nerve stimulation.
