I have to respond to this because since '06 I've been having gastric problems, severe abdo pain, nausea, throwing, cold sweats that happen at sporatic times..last one was 6 months ago but then it happened 3.5 weeks ago and then again on 7/3. In the back of my mind I wonder if there is something going on with my old stomach the pain is stabbing leaves me hyperventilating. The shortness time of duration is 1.15 hrs the longest 4.5hrs of severe pain and misery..everyone (medical) thinks is gas but for that length of time I can not really say. Ihave had a CT, MRI last year as well as an endoscopy. Im seeing a different bariatric surgeon because my surgeon has not bothered to respond to requests and when I've called him in pain..he says "go to the ER".  Then it seems after this pass the subsenquent days I can't have a normal eating life since everytime I eat I have down tums or antacids but yet I don't have any heartburn at all. I did not have a G tube placed in my old stomach when I had surgery and am research for some possible here in the "complications area of OH.

Tell me more. Where in the abdomen do you feel this pain? I have been having the exact same problem now for a few months. I passed it off at first as to something I ate wrong. I have an appt on Tues to have this checked out.

The sharp or sometime dull pain is right on my incision, which is right under my ribs dead center middle.  Now I spoke to the new bariatric surgeon and he thinks it is the dumping syndrome we get..but Im not eating any heavy carbs but I have had some gastroparesis because I was a (high glucose) diabetic..gastroparesis is when there is no acid or not enough and undigested food stays longer than it should in the stomach and it doesn't move along to the intestines..however it can be the dumping which is when we it moves fast or too fast into the intestine. I read on both and there is some testing to be done. The doc ran a FULL blood work up which they ended up doing 11 tubes of blood there is also a barium taking xray that can be done to determine the speed of the emptying of the stomach. Follow this link to do some reading..your situation may be similiar or not.

Let me know what your doctor says. I can go weeks or months without incident and then suddenly it can act up..which I hate cause I've had the pain so severe I've had to be taken to the ER.
Best of luck
