Post-op Depression
Hello Pat,
I think I am prepared for the depression, at least I know that I can be helped via med's until I can get better if needed. I had my Dr. consult on Saturday and I feel more at ease with the thought of doing what I need to do and have the surg. My husband is against it. I know I need it to stay out of long term illnesses down the road and a wasted life, unhappy and in pain. He thinks I should just be able to stop and eat right. I have PCOS and have dieted for 33 years! Then he tells me, what if I have the surg and get so depressed I blow my head off".
I think I will be having the life saving surgery and pray for happiness.
Thank you for your help, I am very glad to hear your feeling better and enjoying the benefits of your surg.
PS. I think you are pretty in your before pic, I bet your supermodel in you after!
Hi Sandra,
Thanks for your kind words. I am sorry that you do not have support from your husband buty hopefully you have another means iof a support system...family, friends, etc.? My husband never came out and said he did not want me to have it but he did initially feel that way. Now that I am much thinner he is happy as can be :)
I will say that the thought of actually being "skinny" or say 125lbs I can be sure would only be possible thru WLS. I can diet and lose, but only maybe 40 and then either gaining back 40 or 45.
I wish there was a statisic that showed how many of the WLS patients with complications over 6 months post op were not following the plan right. I have read so much about it, I can go to RemedyMD and read ALL positive stuff on WLS, everything is super duper great. Then I go to OH and get some 411 weather I want it or not. But I know I would rather be knowledgable about it all.
I need to ask you....could you tell me if you were concerned and if so how much, on weather or not you might end up with a lesser quality of life then what you have now?
