I was feeling normal all day until lunch when I had eaten girl chicken and salad. I laid down for about one hour and was awaken by severe stomach pains. They felt like cramps coming in and out I also notice that I became very hot and clamy. I was in severe pain. I finally was rushed to the ER and may I say not treated very well , I had stated that I needed a bariatric surgeon to look at me. I am 4 years post op , never been sick and lost all the weight. I was told that I had a small obstruction , they wanted to operate but decided to see if it would pass. I was given clear liquids and milk of mag, and fleet enema. The thing is prior to this meal , I had no nausea was eating and moving my bowels fine. I was finally released and sent home. But My stomach is now so swollening (normally flat) and very tender , feeling no pain occasional twinge. I did peak at my chart it stated my WBC was elevated but did improve.  I need to find a surgeon in new jersey to check me out. I tried calling mine but he moved and the center I called was telling me to follow the er dr's advice. I am trying to call there when the normal surgeons are their. But where do by pass patients go to be checked?????????/ Does this sound familiar , Is it normal for my stomach to be swollen?

It certainly doesn't sound normal, but I'm by no means the expert. Even if your surgeon moved from the practice, another doctor should have taken his patients. Definitely call back in the morning during regular business hours and insist on being seen. Even if the feeling has passed, I would want to know what caused it in the first place so far post-op. Aside from the routine annual visit with my GB, I've seen him any other time I've had issues related to my WLS. That's definitely the route you want to take.

What about seeing a Gastro Dr?   The one I use to see specialized in post op gastric bypass patients.    Maybe they could at least check you out.   Just a thought.    The obstruction must still be there.  How did they find the obstruction?  Did they find with a cat scan?  Just curious.  Hope you feel better.
